Fate Mini Album

Hello everyone, below are some close up pictures of the mini album that i made a video on. The video is uploaded below this post, it was my very first video so be nice. LOL. I have to admit sometimes i forgot what the products names where, but it was only because i was nervous. I am my worst critic. Anyway, please feel free to leave a comment and let me know what you think. Both of the mini and the video.

Graphic 45 - A Proper Gentleman Frame

I am so addicted to making these, but i think they are so cool and people love them as gifts. So, this frame is for a male, i tried to make it as masculine as i could, but i just had to include a lollipop flower. I used the Baroque die by Tim Holtz this time instead of the ornamental (i think that is what i have been using). I used the paper line from Graphic 45, A Proper Gentleman, and some Prima Bling. I coated all of the ephemera with Diamond Dust. I painted the frame in black and then dobbed it with the gold paint dobber by Tim Holtz.

"Fate" Mini using Tim Holtz Baroque Die

Ok, so i finally decided a title for this mini. I had to think of a good four letter word for it so that it would fit on the bird cage with the letters that i wanted to use for it. The word i came up with was "Fate", since i believe that my husband and i were destined to be together :). Maybe one day i will tell the story of how we got together, but today i will go on with the mini. LOL

I did not get to complete the whole mini yet, but i did get to finish the first few pages, so i thought i would post those and then i was thinking about doing a video when i was finished with it, explaining the techniques a little better. I am hoping to have the mini completed this weekend and have the video up by Sunday.

Below are a few pictures of Prima E-Line flowers that i colored in with a few different glimmer mists. I think the ones i used were Cherry Limeade, Sunflower, and Brick. I painted on the colors with a paint brush, i really love the way they turned out. I actually like them better then the already colored ones by Prima because you can customize the color your self.

Below is a picture of all of the white E-Line flowers that i colored, as well as a few individual petals. A few posts down i will show the flower all put together.
This is a picture of the Prima hydrangea that came from a package i bought at Michaels, just thought i would show the difference between the two.

Ok, now onto the mini :) - So this is the cover page, i used the bird cage die by Tim Holtz, i inked it up with Vintage Photo and then used distress embossing powder (walnut) and then i scraped off some of the embossing powder to make is look like an old rusted bird cage. I pretty much did the same thing with the bird except for i used Vintage Photo embossing powder. I then glimmer misted them with Old Lace glimmer mist (my favorite glimmer mist color by the way).

For this next page i didn't really do much except put Iridescent Gold glimmer mist on it, my thought was that if i covered any part of it then you would loose the image that i love so much (which is a forest. LOL)

The next page i used the bird from the Tim Holtz die, i used the same technique as i had on the bird cage, except i wanted a more redish darker look for this bird, so after i embossed it with Vintage Photo distress embossing powder i inked it up with Aged Mahogany distress ink and then i sprayed it with Ranger's Cranberry color wash, i wiped some of the wash off with a paper towel and then i heat set it. I used some Maya Road (i think that is the right manufacturer) lace on the bottom of the bird branch, Tim Holtz stick pin and adage ticket which i put diamond dust on. I didn't want to cover the image of the fairy too much because i thought it is so pretty, so i am going to put my photos on tags and then stick them behind the bird. I placed the bird so that it looked like the fairy and the bird are communicating together.
I loved this pattern paper with the flowers. I used the Prima E-Line flowers that i colored on this page, along with some of the Prima flowers that i bought at M's. I cut out this flourish from the Sentimentals cartridge so that i can put a few tags behind that and put some Utee on it to make it stronger and shiny. Inside the flourish i put rock candy crackle paint. I am thinking i might put a photo behind the flourish as well as the tags.

Hope you enjoyed the first few pages of my "Fate" mini, please feel free to leave comments and let me know what you think so far.

Update

Hey everyone,

I just wanted to give a little update on what i have been working on (I will post pictures later tonight or tomorrow). Anywhoo, i have been working on a new mini album using the new barqoue die by Tim Holtz and DCWV paper that i have had in my stash 4-ever. It is the Once Upon a Time collection. I am using a ton of birds and butterflies in it. You know i will have feathers and pearls (my most favorite product to use) and of course a lollipop flower thrown into the mix. LOL. I am hoping to have it finished tonight and post some pictures tomorrow. I am going to be putting pics of my hubby and my self when we first met (when i was actually skinny minny. LOL) We have both changed over the years though, i am trying to loose the weight, but it is hard when you love food. Anyway, how did i get on the subject of food. LOL. Back to the mini, I used the Sentimentals cartridge a ton for this mini. I love all of the cute flourishes and frames. That is really a great cartridge.

Thanks for visiting my blog and come back tomorrow for some pictures.

Playmates Beach Layout

You will be seeing a ton of beach layouts since i am trying to finish our vacation album from last year. I did not get to do much while i was in school, and i am so happy that i finally get to work on these pages. It is nice to look back now and see how much my son has grown with in the year. I used the K & Company Sea Glass paper, Coordinations paper, I embossed the "water" with a sizzix embossing folder, and of coursed used my Cricut for some die cuts. I used the Life's a Beach cartiridge for the chair, the palm trees (which i welded with my gypsy), the umbrella (i used the new Hide Contour feature for this to make layers. I love it!), and the Beach Ball, I used Everyday Paper Dolls for the post that has the word Beach on it. I also wanted to make a sun at the top, but didn't really like how any of the die cuts looked, so i decided to make a lollipop flower for the sun. I put diamond dust around the Tim Holtz adage ticket as well as the sand castle chip piece. I used Rock Candy stickles on the palm trees and the turtle. I had a lot of fun making this layout. I am going to journal right next to the flower. I did make a title called Playmates, but i did not like how it came out when i cut it on the cricut. I used Life's a Beach for the weld, so i have to redo that.

Thank You Frame

I had so much fun making the birthday frame, i decided to make a Thank You one. I pretty much did the same thing, except left this one a little more simpler, i put some diamond dust on the little prima flower.

Chipboard Birthday Frame

I had a birthday party to go to on Sunday and wanted to make a card to give (of course. LOL), but I have come to the realization that i am not very good at making cards. So, instead of a card i made a Frame that the person can use to hang, and i adhered a little note card to the back of it. I had so much fun making it. Let me tell you it was a hit, she loved the idea of a card that was a usable frame. I did not make it birthday themed so that she can put what ever photo she wanted.

I used a Tim Holtz Alterations Die for the frame, then i painted the chipboard piece with Adirondack paint dobbers in cranberry, then i dabbed a few spots in gold dobber, then i sanded it down to make the colors blend a little bit better. I then covered it with Shimmer Mod Podge. I used prima lace for the bottom trim, Mariposa paper for the front and back, i made the lolli pop flower (I am addicted to making these, they are so much fun). I also made the flower to the right my self thanks to Jade's technique. For the final touch i added a charm and a little vintage piece from K & Company's Life Journey Collection, i put some diamond dust on the edges of it.
